I’m about to head out on my first big overseas trip soon (Asia first, then hopefully Europe later this year), and I’ve been going in circles trying to figure out the best way to stay connected. :sweat_smile:

Here’s what I’ve picked up so far:

• Local SIMs: Usually the cheapest, but the idea of navigating airport kiosks when I’m tired (and maybe dealing with a language barrier) stresses me out.
• eSIMs: Super convenient since you just scan a QR code. I noticed brands like Airalo, Nomad, and SimCorner all offer them. My friend actually used SimCorner’s travel eSIM recently and said it was smooth to set up, so I’m leaning toward that.
• Physical travel SIMs: Still pretty popular. Options like SimCorner’s physical SIM or even Klook cards are appealing because you just swap them in and go. Plus, no worries if your phone is picky about eSIMs.

My main concerns are:

• I’ll need hotspot/tethering for my laptop sometimes.
• Don’t want to get trapped with “unlimited” data that slows to a crawl after a few gigs.
• I’d like to avoid constantly changing numbers since I’ll still use WhatsApp/Telegram for family chats.

Has anyone here done a mix of these? Like eSIM in one country, physical SIM in another? Did you notice one was more reliable across borders?

And for those who’ve used SimCorner before (especially their eSIM), did you find it reliable for hotspot use and fair on data speeds? My friend had a good experience, but I’d love to hear more feedback from others before I decide.
