Many people greet each other with the usual question, “How are you today?” The common reply is often, “I’m fine.” Yet there is a better way to look at each day. A more thoughtful answer might be this. “Today, life is richer than yesterday.”
Each new day adds something to your life. New experiences appear. You meet people you did not know before. You gain knowledge that was not there yesterday. Life continues to grow through these small moments.
You are richer today than you were the day before
Sometimes the wealth is visible. It may come through work, opportunity, or material gain. At other times, the wealth is quiet. It shows up as lessons learned, friendships formed, or wisdom gained from challenges.
The important question is not only how life becomes richer. The deeper question is: What kind of wealth truly matters?
Many people think of wealth only in terms of money. Income, salary, and possessions often become the measure of success. Yet there are forms of wealth that cannot be counted in a bank account.
One of them is your relationship with God
Faith offers direction and grounding in life. Scripture reminds us in Mark 8:36, “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” Material success loses meaning if spiritual life is neglected. Real wealth includes a heart that remains connected to purpose and faith.
Another form of wealth comes from ideas and insight
Knowledge continues to grow when you stay curious. Reading, observing, and reflecting allow the mind to expand. A person who thinks deeply and learns constantly gains a wealth that no one can easily take away. Each new idea strengthens the way you understand the world.
Character is another lasting treasure
Integrity, honesty, and loyalty shape the foundation of a meaningful life. Success built without character often collapses. The words attributed to Zig Ziglar remind us that a balanced life stands on values such as honesty, integrity, faith, and love. Protecting your character matters more than chasing quick rewards.
Health also deserves attention
People often repeat the phrase “Health is wealth,” and it holds truth. A person who ignores physical well-being eventually pays the price. Strength, energy, and balance support every part of life, including work, relationships, and personal growth. Taking care of the body is part of building a meaningful life.
When you look at wealth this way, money becomes only one small piece of the picture.
Your relationship with God, your ideas, your character, and your health represent forms of wealth that shape the quality of your life. These treasures grow through daily choices and consistent effort.
So when someone asks how your day is going, pause for a moment before answering.
Think about what you have learned today. Think about the people you encountered, the ideas that crossed your mind, or the strength you found during a challenge.
With that reflection, a new answer becomes possible.
Today, life is richer than yesterday.
